In retrospect, on 14th December 1999, approval to form the HUBT under the auspices of HUSRA was granted by Mr Tan Boon Huat, Deputy Secretary (Home Affairs) and Chairman HUSRA, during the HUSRA Management Committee Meeting. The objectives of HUBT are as follows:

a) To qualify and remain in the National Basketball League (Division 1);

b) To promote the Home Team spirit through basketball; and

c) To reach out to the community through the Chinese media which is currently the main print media actively reporting on local basketball.

Ultimately, we aim to become the top local basketball team and win the annual National Basketball League. The Management Committee and the players will do our very best to make Home Team proud and keep the flag flying high. However, to achieve our objectives, we need the support of Home Team agencies and their staff, both on the court and outside the court. We know we can count on everyone in the Home Team.
