United clowned Champion once again...!
The
strong and well-prepared Home United Basketball Club (Home United)
at the Grand Final of the 47th National Basketball League (2005)
Men Division 1, beat last year runner-up Eng Tat Hornets with
a score 79 - 55 and emerged as the Champion of NBL , the top league
in local basketball, for the second consecutive year.
This
is the second time Home United had beaten Eng Tat. On 6 Mar 05,
the Protectors beat Eng Tat with a score of 64 - 54, a margin
of 10 points. Last night, the 1800-strong spectators might want
to see the hard-fight between the two teams but such situation
did not appear. Nonetheless, the spectators were impressed with
the strong team work and superb skill demonstrated by Home United.
Home
United started cautiously and constantly give pressure to the
opponent without giving chance for any hit back. The only good
performance by the opponent was 1 minute before the 1st quarter
where Chia Tat Hong , Fu Wee Qiang and Ching Rong Lie together
scored a total of 6 points narrowing the gap of the Home United's
lead. The first quarter ended with a score of 19 - 11 in favour
of Home United. Home United continued to put pressure on their
defence and put up with fast offensive tactics. The score margin
was narrowed to 10 points in the third quarter once. However,
Eng Tat's defence was totally destroyed when the two 3-pointers
made by Chua Boon Heng and one 3-pointer by Jason Tan and followed
by 2 points made by Koong Kum Hoong ; this 11-point add-on
made the score margin to 19 points before the 3 quarter ended.
In the fourth quarter, Eng Tat could only tag along and not able
to make a return. The fourth quarter ended with a score 79 - 55.
Home United won with a 24-point margin and emerged as the Champion
of the NBL in the second consecutive year. - (Full article)

Home
United emerged victorious for the first time in NBL (Men)
Div (I)
The
annual National Basketball League (NBL) Division I (Men) Tournament
has “kicked” off since 16 May 2004 (Sun) at the Delta Sports Hall. To date, Home United Basketball
Club (HUBC) Men Team has so far won three matches. From the observation
of the three matches played by HUBC, apparently though the line
up of HUBC has been changed significantly, its winning stake are
still based on strong team unity and fighting spirit.
The team has displayed great improvement in their offensive and
defensive tactics. The players have also performed well during
the three matches and fully illustrated
what they have been trained. Nonetheless, winning a game does not mean there
is no problem. It was obvious in the matches that coordination among the players
seemed to be lacking due to the change of line up and many players are playing
together for the first time. Many of the offensive opportunities had been missed
due to poor handling of last minute opportunity. Getting to the respective
position during offensive seemed to be slow and not clear and team strategies
seemed not seamless. On defence, the players had maintained a good control
over the opponent’s
scoring. However, there are still rooms for improvement on controlling the
number of fouls and enhancing the defensive. The tournament just started, our
players should continue to learn and seek improvement during the matches and
training. At the same time, we should also learn from the players of the opponent
teams adopt their plus points; and hope that we could learn in every match
and strike to achieve the best performances for this year league |

Indoor Sports hall.
Jun
Lang was completely a different team last night as compared to
the previous match against the Home United two weeks ago where
they lost 27 points. In the first round of the league, Home United
topped the list while Jun Lang held the second position.
On
the onset of the final, both teams were trading closely and the
defence were tight. It was until Home United Koh Meng Koon's 3-pointer
after 3 minutes broke the zero score line. The closely contested
first quarter ended with a score of 18 – 15 in favour of Jun Lang.

Home United
Basketball Team 3rd in placing
This
year, the National Basketball League (NBL) Div 'I' organised by the Basketball Association of Singapore from 25 August
to 14 September 2002, witnessed stiff competition amongst the
six participating teams. Amongst them was the Home United Basketball
Team (Men) looking to improve on their third placing last season.
Try
as they might, HUBT could not match the performances of the top teams
this season as once again they finished third, this time behind champions
Jun Lang and runners-up, SAFSA.
Despite the season without top honours, HUBT was privileged to have three of
their players, Koh Meng Koon, Zheng Yonghan and Lee Kendy from SPF, selected
for the national team. |

United Basketball Team comes in 7th Placing
Same
here after HUBT emerged victorious in Division II NBL, the HUBT
(together with the other three semi-finalists) qualified for the
Division I NBL, which took place August and September 2000. This
is a major achievement for a newly formed team. This is the first
time we have achieve this promotion in 20 years. With the same
fighting spirit, the HUBT overcame many of its tough opponents
in Division I to secure the seventh position. With that, the HUBT
has successfully retained a place in the league of Division I
for the coming NBL. We will strive for better results next year. |

United Basketball Team's First Championship Title in NBL!
The Home
United Basketball Team emerged Division Two champion in the Basketball Association of Singapore League
final on 7 May 2000, edging out Chong Pang CSC with a 71-65
win. The first half was closely contested, with HUBT managing
only a three point lead. After the interval, the match fired
up, but HUBT managed to keep their slim lead. Every point
earned became crucial as Chong Pang CSC gallantly pushed
ahead to close
up the gap. However, HUBT stuck to their game plan and managed
to stay ahead till the final whistle. Captain Tan Eng Wah,
team manager of HUBT said he was happy that his team had
achieved its first target, which was to qualify for Division
One. He
added that its next target was to finish in the top eight
of
Division One. Division One begins in August, so that gives
HUBT time to prepare by playing in several small tournaments.
HUBT
will also have an additional advantage in that it will be
guided by former national star Neo Beng Siang. |
